Linux Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Administrator

<h2>Position Overview</h2> <p> Blue Heron InfoTech is seeking a Linux Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Administrator to help design, deploy, maintain, and support secure technology environments for manufacturers, engineering firms, professional offices, and growing organizations. </p> <p> This role combines Linux administration, virtualization, networking, containers, identity management, backup, monitoring, and customer support. The ideal candidate is comfortable troubleshooting complex systems and working directly with clients. </p> <h2>Primary Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li>Administer Linux servers and services</li> <li>Deploy and maintain Docker-based applications</li> <li>Support Proxmox virtualization environments</li> <li>Configure networking, DNS, VPN, firewalls, and remote access</li> <li>Manage backup and disaster recovery systems</li> <li>Support identity platforms, directory services, and single sign-on</li> <li>Monitor systems, investigate failures, and document corrective actions</li> <li>Assist clients with infrastructure planning and technical support</li> <li>Create and maintain technical documentation</li> </ul> <h2>Technologies</h2> <ul> <li>Linux</li> <li>Docker and Docker Compose</li> <li>Proxmox</li> <li>Nextcloud</li> <li>Keycloak</li> <li>Mailcow</li> <li>MariaDB and PostgreSQL</li> <li>OPNsense and network security systems</li> <li>Synology storage and backup</li> <li>Active Directory and LDAP</li> </ul> <h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Practical Linux system administration experience</li> <li>Experience with virtualization and containers</li> <li>Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls</li> <li>Experience with backup, monitoring, and disaster recovery</li> <li>Ability to communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical users</li> <li>Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills</li> <li>Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned systems</li> </ul> <h2>Work Location</h2> <p> This position is based in the Angola, Indiana area. Some client-site work and occasional travel may be required. </p> <h2>Employment</h2> <p> Full-time employment with compensation based on experience and demonstrated ability. </p>
